The Graduate Student Conference on East Asia provides a forum for graduate students from various institutions and diverse disciplines to share ideas and to discuss work in progress with their peers. The conference offers a glimpse of the future of research in East Asian Studies.

As an interdisciplinary conference, we welcome applications from graduate students engaged in research on topics such as, but not exclusive to, East Asian history, economics, business, political science, literature, art history, and religion.

Participants:

Participants will have two ways to take part in the conference:

Presenters deliver 15 minute (maximum) talks which summarize research in progress. Presenters are strongly encouraged to form their own 3-person panels. Panels should be linked thematically, but panelists should feel free to cross disciplinary, spatial, and temporal boundaries.

Discussants introduce the panelists and foster the exchange of ideas in the 20-minute discussion session following the presentations.
