Buddhist Art from Columbia University Collections
November 13, 1998 - January 31, 1999
Created by Dr. David Sensabaugh, Curator of Asian Art at Yale University Art Gallery, this exhibition presented a selection of Buddhist sculptures from various Asian traditions donated to Columbia University by J. G. Phelps Stokes and Arthur M. Sackler. The exhibition was displayed in the Rotunda Gallery of the Low Memorial Library at Columbia University in support of the November 1998 international symposium "The Culture of Convents in Japanese History", held to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the Institute for Medieval Japanese Studies.
The Institute for Medieval Japanese
Studies would like to thank not only Dr. Sensabaugh but also Sarah Weiner
(Director of Art Properties, Columbia University) for the time, effort
and creativity they dedicated to this wonderful exhibition.
