Goals
Main
Goals
The main goals in teaching Korean language are
threefold:
| (1) |
to enable the student to communicate in Korean
with native speakers of the language
|
| (2) |
to provide the student with the necessary facility
to further his or her individual research or professional interests
|
| (3) |
to impart the student the understanding
of Korean culture and heritage both for its own sake and in support
of the achievement of the two previous goals. |
While the goals of language instruction remain stable
and in accord with language program objectives, the program always seeks
to adapt the means used to achieve those goals, in so far as possible
and appropriate, to be in harmony with the aspirations, interests, the
needs, and backgrounds of the particular students of the moment.
