Columbia University is a member of the consortium of universities which sponsors the Inter-University Center for Japanese Language Studies in Yokohama, Japan. The center provides intensive training in advanced spoken and written Japanese. The Inter-University Program for Chinese Language study in Beijing and Taipei Columbia University is on the Inter-University Board for Chinese Language Studies, which provides intensive programs in intermediate and advanced Chinese at National Taiwan University in Taipei and Tsinghua University in Beijing.
