ENDOWED CHAIR IN POLISH STUDIES

The Brooklyn-based Polish Slavic Credit Union presented a check to the University last February for the first endowed chair in Polish Studies. The credit union was the first donor to the project, giving a total of $500,000 after a five-year fundraising effort. Nicholas Dirks (fourth from right), vice president of arts and sciences,accepted the check for the last payment on behalf of the University. Bogdan Chmielewski, chief executive officer of the credit union, is at center.
