The members of ECFAS wish to state their commitment to unfettered academic speech at our University, and to the protection of faculty, students, and other University affiliates from internal and external pressures, government or other. Consistent with Provost Jonathan Cole’s eloquent statement on this matter in his letter of 11 December 2002, and because reports of attempts to limit free speech continue, we wish to add our own support in defense of free thought and speech at Columbia.
