Faculty Honors
- Jagdish Bhagwati has been awarded the Medal of the Italian Chamber of Deputies and also the Order of the Rising Sun: Gold and Silver Star by the Government of Japan, which is the highest civilian award given to foreigners, in 2006.
- Alessandra Casella has been honored with a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship in Political Science for 2006-7.
- Miguel Urquiola has been chosen to be a 2005-2006 National Academy of Education/Spencer Postdoctoral Fellow.
- Douglas Almond has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to do research at the China Center for Economic Research, Peking University during the 2005-2006 academic year. Among the thousands of prominent Fulbright Scholar alumni are Milton Friedman, Nobel Prize-winning economist.
- Wojciech Kopczuk has been selected as an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow. The Sloan Research Fellowships were established in 1955 to stimulate fundamental research by early-career scientists and scholars who show the most outstanding promise of making fundamental contributions to new knowledge. Prof. Kopczuk's tenure as a Sloan Research Fellow will last for two years.
