The newly formed Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee convened for the first time on April 11, with a welcome from Senior Executive Vice President Robert Kasdin.
The blue ribbon group comprises about 40 representatives from virtually all Morningside Campus graduate and undergraduate groups, primary university administrative units such as Housing & Dining, Facilities and CUIT, and faculty.
The group’s initial task is to establish principles and make recommendations about environmental stewardship and sustainability for Columbia. Assistant Vice President Nilda Mesa says the committee will be “a collaborative, creative effort, at the same time with a foot in the real world.”
The group will meet once again prior to the end of the semester.
