Lecture Opportunities for EPIC Fellows in Southern Florida
Teaching opportunities in the Lifelong Learning Society, Florida Atlantic University:
We have been in contact, through EPIC fellow Myron Winick, with Florida Atlantic University, which has the largest adult-education program in southeastern Florida. The program is called the Lifelong Learning Society. Although the University's main campus is in Boca Raton, it has many smaller campuses located from north of West Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale.
The assistant provost of the University indicated that they would be excited if retired faculty from Columbia, Barnard, and Teachers College would be willing to participate in their program by designing and teaching courses in their own discipline. There would be, of course, a stipend for any course actually taught.
This letter is to find out if you are interested in participating in such a program and if you know any other retired Columbia professors who are not members of EPIC and who would like to participate. If you are interested, please contact Assistant Provost Ely Meyerson, the person in charge of the Lifelong Learning Society, at 561-297-3171. Also, please let us know if you actually do teach a course, either by e-mail or mail to the EPIC address.
