David M. Stone was appointed Executive Vice President for Communications in March 2006.

David Stone's experience spans a wide range of professional realms, including higher education, government, nonprofits, law and broadcasting. Over the past two decades he has served in state and federal government, worked as a writer, public affairs television producer and communications consultant for a variety of media, education, government and mission-driven organizations.

Most recently, Mr. Stone has been an adviser to Princeton University's Policy Research Institute for the Region at the Woodrow Wilson School for Public and International Affairs. He previously served as a consultant on strategic communications and community outreach for the University of Pennsylvania, including the University's civic partnership with the neighborhood of West Philadelphia. In addition, he has served as deputy chief of staff and communications director for Pennsylvania Governor Robert P. Casey and United States Senator Harris Wofford.

A graduate of Harvard Law School, Mr. Stone clerked at The New York Times Company legal department and had a brief civil litigation practice with the firm of Drinker, Biddle & Reath. Before attending law school, he was a researcher for the MacNeil-Lehrer Report at WNET and a national public affairs producer for Tribune Broadcasting, both in New York.

A native New Yorker, Mr. Stone graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University, where he won the C.O. Joline Prize for American History and the Thesis Publication Prize for his work on "Nixon and the Politics of Public Television."
