Mélanie Heydari

Mélanie Heydari was born in Paris to parents of Persian descent. She was reared in Chile and educated in France. She studied at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Lyon, France, where she passed the “agrégation” in English literature. She has been living in New York City since September 2009. She completed her PhD dissertation on the protean work of the Indo-Anglian writer Vikram Seth in 2012. A visiting scholar at NYU, she taught a literature course there, examining how ancient Greek literature has been utilized by writers across several cultures. She now teaches French both at Columbia and the French Institute Alliance Française.
