Scott M. Sanders received his Ph.D. from New York University in French Literature with an interdisciplinary focus on eighteenth-century music theory and opera. His dissertation, entitled “Music, Language and Affective Lyricism,” examines the presence and absence of the lyrical, expressive and melodic voice in eighteenth-century philosophical and literary texts. His research reimagines text from a sonic perspective and evaluates how sound influences our understanding of eighteenth-century literature. He has taught French language and literature courses.
