Current Graduate Students

Every year, the Department of French and Romance Philology recruits some of the best graduate students in the nation and from around the world. There are currently approximately 50 graduate students in the Department, many of them Teaching Fellows.

While our graduate students are required to complete rigorous literary, historical and critical training, they also participate actively in the life of the Department through groups such as the Salons, and the French Graduate Student Association (FGSA). The Department also provides research guidance, as well as support for graduate students' teaching duties.

Current students are encouraged to volunteer for a position in the FGSA and can attend workshops, conferences and other events organized specifically for their benefit. The FGSA and the Department have also put together a Survival Guide and several other resources to help new and continuing students with their studies, as well as their life on and off campus.
