FGSA Guide to Fellowships for Students in the Department of French and Romance Philology, Columbia University

Date compiled: August 2010

While this list covers both common and less common funding sources for graduate students in the department, it does not pretend to be exhaustive. It is recommended that students search the GSAS fellowship database (available on the GSAS website) themselves, since their background or the nature of their project may make them eligible for support from a specialized fellowship not listed below.

According to the GSAS, “Each Fellow is required to submit evidence of at least one effort to obtain funding from an agency external to the University” per year. For that reason, external fellowship sources are included in this list.

The information below comes from the GSAS fellowship database. For the source of funding, the following abbreviations are used:

  • FRRP = Department of French and Romance Philology
  • CU = Columbia University
  • Ex = external source.
