- An anonymous peer counseling phone line called OutReach, staffed by lesbians, gay men, and bisexuals, which can be contacted on Monday and Thursday nights from 8 to 11 pm, at 854-3091.
- Individual counseling, a coming-out support group, and an HIV+ support group at the Counseling and Psychological Services Center. For further information call 854-3091 and ask for Laura Pinsky or Barbara Steif.
- The Columbia Center for Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Mental Health offers group and individual counseling on coming-out and other issues. It is located at a Columbia-run clinic at 16 E. 60th Street. Columbia students pay reduced fees and can be referred by Counseling and Psychological Services.
- The Mentors Project matches lesbigay students with faculty or staff members with similar interests for academic and professional advising. Contact Rachel Effron or Laura Pinsky at 854-2878 for the Morningside Campus or Robert Kertzner at 960-2439 for the Health Sciences Campus.
- Two non-lesbigay-specific resources may also be of interest: the all-purpose Columbia peer counseling line, Nightline (854-7777, 10 pm to 3 am nightly) and the anonymous on-line health question and answer service Go Ask Alice (on the student services menu of ColumbiaNet).
- Several New York-based phonelines are available as well, including: the Gay and Lesbian Switchboard of New York (777-1800), the Lesbian Switchboard of New York City (741-2610), and the Gay Men's Health Crisis AIDS/HIV Hotline (807-6655).
