Gay Residence Advisor Fired

Joneil Adriano, an LBGC member and co-founder of Queers of Color, was a Residence Advisor in Carman until mid-October when he was fired after two meetings with the Residence Director about his relationship with a male on his floor. There is widespread suspicion in the lesbigay community that his firing was discriminatory on the basis of sexual orientation. The perception is that other RA's -- not gay -- have had relationships with others on their floors with impunity. LBGC has written a letter to the Deans protesting the firing and is awaiting further word from the review process which is underway.
