LBGTC Changes Name

LBGTC changed its name over the summer from Lesbians, Bisexuals, and Gays at Teachers College to Lesbians, Bisexuals, Gays, and Transgender Community. According to Frank Susa, LBGTC's chair, the intent behind the name change was to create a more universal student group, and to emphasize that all LBGTC's events and activities are open to the University community. LBGTC's mission statement is as follows:

The Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay, and Transgender Community (LBGTC) at Teachers College is a social, educational, and community service organization, which celebrates diversity, encourages political activity, and fosters understanding among people who are straight, lesbian, bisexual, gay, and/or transgendered. LBGTC serves Teachers College, Columbia University, all its affiliates, and the entire Morningside Heights community. LBGTC also offers programming for Teachers College alumni.

LBGTC has an official logo, which can be viewed on its World Wide Web site at http://www.columbia.edu/~fs94/queer.html/.
