The Harlem Horizon Art Studio (HHAS), an initiative of Harlem Hospital’s Injury Prevention Program (HHIPP), provides a safe haven for inpatients, outpatients and community children ages 5-18 to freely create and express themselves through the healing quality of painting. Under the instruction of Orville Anderson, a former program participant, the Studio provides a nurturing and supportive environment where children can express themselves artistically through painting, sketching, sculpting, collage creation, two-dimensional art creation, and portfolio development. In addition to its weekly afternoon sessions, the program offers its participants special workshops, museum and field trips, and experience with art exhibition and sales. HHAS is a beacon of hope in the Harlem community where children develop confidence, poise and self-esteem; qualities that stay with them throughout their lives. Through art, the young painters learn about themselves, their community and the world. At HHAS Everyone Is An Artist.

Harlem Hospital's Injury Prevention Program's other projects include the Urban Youth Bike Project, Playground Project, Unity Through Murals, Harlem Little League, Harlem Winter Baseball Clinic, Harlem Soccer League, Harlem Hospital Dance Leadership Program, and Project HEALTH. HHIPP also offers training in the areas of Home and Child Passenger Safety.

The exhibit is free and open to the public Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.
