Lecturer

Tiina Haapakoski

Tiina Haapakoski holds a Masterís degree in Social Anthropology (University College London, England, 2006) and a BA in Finnish (University of Oslo, Norway, 2003). She joined Columbia in 2010. Previously, Tiina Haapakoski has taught Finnish at the University of Toronto, Canada and in several schools in Helsinki, Finland and London, England.

At Columbia, Tiina Haapakoski teaches Finnish language and culture courses and coordinates the Finnish Studies program. Her research interests are: Finnish immigration to North America, sociolinguistics and second language acquisition.
