Katarzyna Owen has had a busy international musical career. In addition to being a solo cellist, Ms. Owen was the leading soprano for many years of the award-winning chorus "Schola Cantorum Bialostociensis" in Poland (Choral National Competition 'Legnica Cantat' 1st prize, Festival of Choral Singing in Arnhem, Holland 6th Prize out of the 75 best European choruses). In 1990, the chorus won the third prize in the International Chorus Competition in Vancouver, Canada, receiving the status of one of the best choruses in the world.
Ms. Owen has also made several choral CD recordings and participated in numerous choral concerts and music festivals in Poland, Lithuania, Germany, Holland, Italy and Canada.
Ms. Owen is also co-founder and executive director of Camerata New York Chorus and Orchestra. She has successfully organized and performed concerts to critical acclaim in the foremost venues in the world including Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. In 2001 Ms. Owen prepared the Camerata New York Chorus to perform 'Stabat Mater' by G. Pergolesi in Carnegie Hall as the season opening concert for Mid-America Productions.
Ms. Owen also has substantial experience as a voice teacher, vocal coach and accompanist. On a number of occasions, Ms. Owen was invited to work with the singers of the Columbia University Glee Club Chorus. Ms. Owen maintains a very active private studio, in which she teaches voice, strings, piano and guitar. She is also a member of the faculty of Bramson's School of Music in Mount Kisco, where she teaches voice and other instruments.
As a soprano soloist, Ms. Owen free-lances in the New York area. She is a cantor in St. John's Chapel in North Salem, NY. Since 2003 she has been a vocal advisor to the children chorus at the St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Brewster.
Ms. Owen received her Masters degree from the F. Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Poland. She continued musical studies at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria. She also graduated from the Psychology and Pedagogy College in Warsaw, Poland.
Ms. Owen speaks Polish, Russian, Italian and German. She currently resides in Brewster, NY with her husband and two sons.
