Deirdre's Story
"Before enrolling in Columbia's Postbac Premed Program I worked as an actuary and authored fictional short stories - until my sister was diagnosed with bone cancer. I decided to go into medicine after a bone marrow transplant put her in a coma. During one of the nights I spent by her side, I realized how much I wanted to do for others what her doctors were doing for her."
About The Program
As the oldest and largest program of its kind, the Columbia University Postbac Premed Program is highly regarded for its rigorous approach to preparing college graduates who wish to pursue a medical education, but who have taken few or none of the core science courses required for admission to medical school.
Whether seeking a career in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or the allied health fields, our resource-rich campus in New York City, dedicated academic advisors, network of hands-on clinical and research opportunities, and internationally recognized faculty will help you realize your future in medicine.
