Final Jurors; Irena Latek, Christine Boyer, Marissa Oliver, Mark Robbins, Lauren Otis, Michael Webb, Michael Manfredi, James Sanders, Joan Ockman, Andrea Kahn.
Andrea Kahn:- How would commercial uses at this point on 125 st effect the street? What changes would it bring? could there be an open air market, sports club, health facility?
Mark Robbins:-Look for more porosity in buildings enveloppes, signs of inhabitation--need storefronts which can open out onto the street like 14th street.
Marissa Oliver:-How would this project enhance East Harlem, people are scared to
go there, shop downtown instead, may be it could become another 42nd

stret as suggested--but who would go underground to shop there?
Irena Latek:-Why would people come here? What makes it special? The vendors? Bodegas? What is characterof place?
Christine Boyer:- Pathmark is in a very low scale tight space--unactractive space going underground. It leads the rest of the project. Activity on the street would be a better attraction super stores kill the street, the sight and sound and smell of the street gone, creates a problem for ventilation and odour indoors.
Andrea Kahn: 14 st roll up shutters and open street fronts make it special, might not work in Harlem, but need this kind of detailed investigation.
Joan Ockman:- attracted by study of specificity of streets, each cross town street different, 14/34/42 etc. What drives 125? Open air market? not a green market? relate to community? Pathmark too generic. the open air market hidden behind fitness center.
Lauren Otis:-Pathmark car based, few parking spaces here-open 24 hours- I stop weekly shopping customers, need programs that extend stay use;_ cinemas more logical, subway bus connections. weekly shopping customers, need programs that extend stay use;_ cinemas more logical, subway bus connections.
