Researchers in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics use the full spectrum of contemporary biophysical, biochemical, molecular biological, and cellular techniques to study developmental biology; gene expression, regulation and signal transduction; macromolecular structure, function and Dynamics; and molecular neurobiology.

Fellowships are awarded in recognition of academic achievement and in expectation of scholarly success. Teaching and research experience are considered an important aspect of the training of graduate students. Thus, graduate fellowships include teaching assistantships and research apprenticeships.

Special Admission Requirements

Basic knowledge of biology, mathematics, organic chemistry, physical chemistry and physics is required. The subject GRE in biochemistry, biology, cell and molecular biology, chemistry, mathematics or physics is optional.
