English Proficiency Requirement:

Admitted Ph.D students who are required to submit official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) results must attain level 10 on the English Placement Test (EPT) administered by the American Learning Program (ALP). These international students must take the EPT at the fall orientation. For more information, see the Fu Foundation Engineering School's bulletin or contact the Office of Graduate Student Services in 524 Mudd.

Financial Aid:

A comprehensive program of financial aid for Ph.D candidates is available. Most full-time Ph.D candidates are currently supported either by outside sponsors or through the department. The departmental aid consists of a Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA) or a Teaching Assistantship (TA). The GRA or TF is for nine months and may be renewed each year contingent upon satisfactory progress in the program and availability of funding.
