Please Note: The Human Rights Studies program only accepts applications for the Fall Semester
FLAS Fellowships
are available for students entering in the Fall. If you are applying for the FLAS Fellowship
you must submit your application, including the FLAS Essay by February 21st.
Although 6 points of transfer credit are
allowed (not applicable to Human Rights Studies students), the courses
transferred must be graduate courses, have a specific relationship to
the program chosen, have been completed at the time of admission to the
program, and may not have been used toward fulfillment of requirements
for another degree. No credit is given for "life experience'' or for
correspondence courses. Transfer credit must be approved by the
admissions review committee.
Once students are admitted, they must complete their course work at Columbia.
A maximum of 12 points in courses taken at Columbia as a
nonmatriculated student may be accepted in partial fulfillment of the
requirements for the degree, with the approval of the admissions review
committee.
