Rebecca I. Grossman
Department of Physics
You have distinguished yourself as an extraordinary teacher of physics as well as an academically talented scholar with a bright future ahead of you. With strong pedagogical skills, and sensitivity to the capacities of those you teach, you have an unusual ability to stimulate, inspire and explain. Students respond with praise for your enthusiasm, empathy, accessibility, and ability to present esoteric concepts in terms they can comprehend and apply. Your dedication to teaching extends beyond the classroom and laboratory. You remain available to students long after they have left your classes, have developed a preparatory course for students preparing for their GE exams, and created a mentoring program to encourage women to study science. In recognition of your many achievements and great promise, it is a pleasure to confer on you the 2006 Presidential Award for Outstanding Teaching by a Graduate Student.
