Upcoming GSAS Reunions

The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences is holding Reunions for each of our 31 departments and for other special programs that the Graduate School offers.

Reunions are an opportunity to return to Columbia and to celebrate the accomplishments of fellow alumni.

This year, GSAS welcomes alumni from the Departments of Art History and Archaeology, Classics, East Asian Languages and Cultures, History, Middle East and Asian Languages and Cultures, and Music back to Columbia.

Schedule of Activities

Registration - Havemeyer Hall

9:00am: Check in, receive your reunion packet, and enjoy continental breakfast with returning alums

Morning - Sessions in Your Departments

Art History and Archaeology
10:00am: Join Professors Matthew McKelway and Zoe Strother and graduate student Emerson Bowyer, who will present their research and moderate a discussion.

Classics
10:00am: Chair James Zetzel and current graduate students share research and discuss Classics today.

East Asian Languages and Cultures
10:00am: Join Professors Robert Hymes, David Lurie, Gregory Pflugfelder, and Shang Wei for faculty talks and to revisit your Columbia experience and to reconnect with the department.

History
10:00am: Director of Graduate Studies Pamela Smith welcomes alumni and friends to faculty talks. Department Chair Marc Van De Mieroop reflects on “Whither Columbia’s History Department?” and Professor Emeritus Henry Graff discusses “Profanity and the Presidency.”

Middle East And Asian Languages and Cultures
10:00am: Professor Fran Pritchett will share the website of resources she has compiled spanning South Asian art, architecture, literature, and languages. Professor Pritchett and Prof. Gil Anidjar will lead a roundtable on MEALAC’s past and future.

Music
10:00am: Professor Walter Frisch will chair a session of current graduate students presenting their research and creative work.
