The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences will waive the application fee
for applicants who are participants or who have participated in one of
the programs listed below. You will be required to complete the “Fee Waiver Request Form”
and submit a hard copy letter from the coordinator or director of the
program indicating the length of time of your enrollment and whether
you are still in the program or have graduated in the past two years.
Your Fee Waiver Request Form and supporting materials must be received
prior to the deadline of your designated program of study.

If you attended a recruitment event for prospective students and
received a fee waiver code please send us the signed “Fee Waiver
Request Form” you received at the event. Your Fee Waiver Request Form
must be received
prior to the deadline of your designated program of study.
The Graduate School will also waive an application fee for US citizens
or permanent residents who are currently enrolled in a US college or
university and who demonstrate financial need. You must download a copy
of the “Fee Waiver Request Form” and provide financial information from one of the following sources:
- A letter verifying your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) signed
by you and a financial aid officer at the institution currently being
attended
- Your Student Aid Report (SAR) for the 2008-2009 year (available from the FAFSA website beginning January 1, 2008)
- A copy of your most recent U.S. Income Tax Returns, Form 1040.
On the payment page of the online application , select, "Pay by Check",
print the Payment Voucher and mail it, along with a completed Fee Waiver Request Form and all supporting documentation, to Office
of Admissions, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, 107 Low Library,
535 West 116th Street, MC 4304, Columbia University, New York, NY 10027. Your Fee Waiver Request Form must be received
prior to the deadline of your designated program of study. If your request is approved, your fee will be waived. If your request is denied you will be asked to pay the $85 application fee.
