The Graduate School does not grant deferrals. Students must register in the term specified for admission. A student unable to register then, but wishing to be admitted in a subsequent year, must request reactivation. The student is then informed of the materials needed to bring the application up to date. Since a reactivated application will be reviewed in the context of a different pool, there can be no guarantee of readmission. Credentials, in such cases, may be held on file until the next academic year. Credentials become the property of the Graduate School and will not be returned to the applicant.

Students denied admission may reapply in a subsequent year if further training or experience is presented to strengthen the application. However, applicants who have not been offered admission to the same department or program for three (3) consecutive years should not apply to GSAS.
