In addition to the requirements listed below, all students must submit 1 official transcript showing courses and grades per school attended, a Statement of Academic Purpose and 3 letters of evaluation from academic sources. All international students whose native language is not English or whose undergraduate degree is from an institution in a country whose official language is not English, must submit scores of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or IELTS. Admission to the Ph.D. program in biostatistics requires a Master’s degree in biostatistics or statistics or the equivalent. For Master's degree programs in biostatistics that provide good preparation for the PhD, go to: http://www.mailman.hs.columbia.edu/biostat/academics.html. Students who enter the Ph.D. program with a Master’s degree in statistics or an equivalent degree may be required to take additional master’s level course work in the Mailman School of Public Health as part of their Ph.D. training.
