All proposals involving vertebrate animals must be approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) in order to comply with Health Sciences and Public Health Service (PHS) Policy. This requires that protocols concerning the utilization of animals must be submitted to the IACUC. As part of the approval process, all personnel listed on the protocol must have completed a certification course on the basic principles underlying the humane care and use of laboratory animals.
