The dean is the senior faculty member responsible for the overall direction and well-being of the School and for the designing and implementing of policies approved by the Executive Committee of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. The associate dean for Ph.D. Programs works with the dean on all aspects of Ph.D. programs and oversees the GSAS Teaching Center. The associate dean for M.A. programs works with the dean on all aspects of the free-standing M.A. programs and advises students in the eight Liberal Studies M.A. programs. The associate dean for administration and planning oversees the personnel of the Graduate School and is responsible for its finances, institutional research, and planning. She also serves as liaison to the University Health Services including the Insurance Office and the Office of Disability Services. The dean’s executive assistant processes requests for leaves of absence and withdrawals.
