The Graduate School will hold orientation sessions for all new Ph.D. and M.A. students on Tuesday, September 1st. The Ph.D. orientation will take place from 11:00 am to noon in St. Paul's Chapel; the M.A. orientation will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 p.m. also in the Chapel.  The Student Resource Fair will be held from 3:30 PM until 5:00 PM on Kent Lawn.  Micro (information) sessions on libraries, computing, career education, etc. will be held during that afternoon.

You can view the Orientation Program here

If you are a special non-degree student, you should not attend the orientation sessions for PhD or Master's degree students. Rather, you should stay in contact with your departmental representative listed in your letter of admission.

If you are an incoming student in the following programs:

  • Biostatistics

  • Environmental Health Sciences

  • Epidemiology

  • Sociomedical Sciences

You should not attend the Ph.D. orientation session listed above. Rather, you should contact Mr. Jim Glover, Director of Student Affairs at 212-305-1166 or jg2794@columbia.edu to find out when your specific orientation will be held. Mr. Glover will also provide information on housing for Ph.D. students in Public Health programs.
