The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Columbia University has been awarded a grant from the Council of Graduate School and the Office of Research Integrity, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, to develop and implement new training opportunities for graduate students in the responsible conduct of research and scholarship integrity. Columbia University is one of five research universities funded for a two-year project.

The Columbia project will include
  • Funding for PhD students and Post-Doctoral Fellows to work with GSAS as Research Ethics Fellows to conduct discipline-specific assessment of issues and training needs in their graduate program.
  • Funding for faculty to revise or design graduate courses to include training in the responsible conduct of research and scholarly integrity.
  • Funding for departments to invite speakers to campus to talk about responsible conduct of research in the discipline and field.

The Project for Scholarly Integrity website provides summaries of all five projects funded by CGS, a searchable database of research ethics resources, and blog postings on issues in graduate training for the responsible conduct of research.
