Anne Germanacos -author of The Time of The Girls- Book Reading at Book Culture on February 10, 2011
Anne Germanacos, author of IN THE TIME OF THE GIRLS (BOA Editions), a debut collection of short stories, will read several selections, share the background for the book, and talk about dividing her time between San Francisco (where she is the fourth generation of a family) and Greece where she and her husband, for 30 years, directed the Ithaca Cultural Studies, where she taught writing, literature, and Modern Greek.

Biography of an Empire: A Conversation and Reception
Columbia University's Middle East Institute and Department of History request the pleasure of your company at a talk and reception in honor of Christine Philliou's new book Biography of an Empire: Governing Ottomans in an Age of Revolution (University of California Press). Featuring a conversation with Edward Said Professor of Modern Arab Studies, Rashid Khalidi, as well as a reception featuring live Balkan music from Black Sea Hotel and Ahmet Erdogdular.
