Multiday Trips
Lean-to in the AdirondacksMultiday Trip Destinations
There are very cool backpacking destinations close enough for weekend trips. We stay in tents, lean-tos and cabins, and pursue multiday trips throughout the year. Some of our past destinations are the White Mountains in New Hampshire, the Green Mountains in Vermont, the Catskills and Adirondacks in New York, and the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. These trips are organized by our club members, and travelling is usually via 12-passenger van.
Meeting Location and Cost
Camping trips meet at 116th and Amsterdam like our day trips, at a time that is decided by the leader of the camping trip. It is common for trips to run from Thursday night or Friday until Sunday night.
The cost for the trip varies depending on the specific expenses of the trip, but for the most part is around $20 a day per person. This fee covers transportation, permits for camping and food for the hike.
Equipment, Meals, Etc.
Required equipment varies for each trip, but generally basic backpacking gear suffices. The leader of a specific trip will provide detailed equipment requirements, but some general guidelines can be found here.
Meal planning also varies between trips. Some general information can be found here.
