Pennsylvania- Wyoming State Forest and World's End State Park Trip, June 27 to June 29
Trail Description:
The hike will be a 17 mile loop that follows the Loyalsock and Link trails in Wyoming State Forest and World's End State Park, located in Northwestern
Pennsylvania. The loop passes through forests of hardwoods, hemlocks, and pines and some areas that have been cleared by logging. The trail is also
well-known for its many waterfalls and canyon vista. You can visit here for a full description of the
hike. We made make some
small changes in the route, but this will give you a good idea for the terrain and level of difficulty.
Mandatory planning meeting is June 19th at 7:00 pm in the Lou Gehrig
lounge of the Dodge Fitness Center.
Signup/Eligibility:
Before you sign up please make sure that this trip is appropriate for you. You need to be in very good physical shape as we
ll be doing some steep climbing over the course of two days. You should have significant experience backpacking and feel comfortable carrying a full pack
(25

You must have the proper gear. Some gear is available for rent inexpensively from Columbia Coop (see below). If you show up without the proper gear you
will not be allowed to hike. More info about gear procurement at the pre-hike meeting.
The trip cost is $60 including food while on the hike and transportation. Meals on the road to and from the mountains are not covered (Friday night and
Sunday evening).
Signup is limited to eight people (not including the leader and driver). If you are not among the first eight to sign up you may put your name on a waiting
list in case someone cancels.
Gear Suggestions:
The following is a list of required and recommended gear for the hike. Sleeping bags, pads, and frame packs are available from the Columbia Coop if you don
t have your own. Other items are available from Eastern Mountain Sports, REI, and
Campmor.
Required:
Proper hiking boots with ankle protection
Warm sleeping bag (proper lightweight backpacking bag, not a car-camping bag)
Sleeping pad
Windproof jacket
Cool, long-sleeved shirts
Cool, lightweight long pants
Non-cotton warm clothing (cotton is not warm when its wet)
Waterproof outerwear
Flashlight (headlamps work well)
Drinking water container/s at least gal (2 L) capacity
Cup, bowl, and spoon for personal use
Sunglasses
Personal items (toothbrush, TP, chapstick, etc)
Optional/Recommended:
Insect protection
Swimsuit
Not required (will be provided):
Camp stoves
Cooking pots
Food
First aid kit (you may bring your own personal first aid if you desire)
Tents (we will discuss this at the planning meeting and organize getting tents from the coop or other club members if we do not have enough among
members in the group)
