Common Area UseLounges in the residence halls are provided primarily for building residents and visitors. Use of the lounges by any group is at the discretion of the Assistant Dean for Community Development and Residential Programs and the Executive Director of Housing. Floor LoungesFloor lounges are available for events intended primarily for the residents of that floor. Only the Resident Adviser (RA) of a particular floor may reserve the floor lounge. If a resident wants to use his or her floor lounge for an event in which he or she will participate, the sponsoring resident must ask his or her RA to reserve the space. Approval of the Assistant/Associate Director for the area is also required. All events taking place in floor lounges are considered floor events and therefore must be free of charge and must not be advertised outside of the hall in which the event is scheduled.
Main Building LoungesResidence hall building lounges are primarily intended for the residents of that building as shared, communal space. The Office of Residential Programs may host community-wide events in the building lounges. Undergraduate councils and student groups recognized on the Morningside Campus (ABC, CI, Club Sports, IGC, and SGB) may reserve only the following building lounges:
The lounge on the 1st Floor of Broadway is intended as programming space for Residential Programs, the IRC expansion, and the staff of Residential Programs. All other lounges in the residence halls may not be reserved by undergraduate student groups. This includes the main lounges in East Campus, Hartley, McBain, River, Ruggles, Woodbridge, and 47 Claremont. It also includes the study lounge on Broadway 14th Floor, East. Additionally, it includes libraries, computer labs, floor lounges, study rooms, and any residence hall spaces other than the lounges which not explicitly listed as available for reservation. Lounge ReservationsResidence Hall lounge reservations, for those lounges listed above, are managed through Lerner Hall. All events hosted in residence hall building lounges are subject to approval from your organizational adviser. Please visit the Booking Space section of the Lerner Hall website to complete a lounge request. All equipment required for the lounge setup (table, chairs, etc.) are the responsibility of the student group. Groups must request these services directly from University Event Management.
