Decorations
We
encourage you to make yourself at home by personalizing your room. Please
remember, however, that wall, ceiling, and door decorations must be affixed
with care. When hanging posters or decorations:
- On all walls, use white
Plasti-Tak.
- In McBain, Ruggles, and Wien,
decorations may also be hung from the molding with the use of molding
hooks.
- Never use nails, adhesives, or
double-sided tape; they will cause damage for which you will be charged.
The
following items are potential fire hazards and are prohibited in residence
halls:
- Cut trees, wreaths, and all
other “live” decorations.
- Non-flame-resistant decorations
hung on room/suite doors or hallway bulletin boards.
- Banners, flags, nets, holiday
lighting, cable wire, and hangers installed on the ceiling in such a way
as to interfere with the operation of any fire safety equipment (i.e.
sprinkler heads or smoke detectors).
- Signs, posters, lights, or
decorations on the exterior of buildings or attached to windowpanes.
- Anything that may be used with
an open flame, including candles and incense, even if the item is serving
a strictly decorative purpose.
