with complimentary cable service are provided in most residential common areas.
In addition, premium cable service (with HBO and HBO Plus) is available for a
monthly fee in suite lounges and/or some individual rooms.
Theft, willful damage, alteration and/or destruction of cable television equipment, and unauthorized reception and/or public broadcast of cable programming is strictly prohibited. In addition, installation and use of any outside cable service in a CUtv-serviced building or installation of any type of satellite dish antenna is strictly prohibited. Violators are subject to University disciplinary procedures and, where applicable, federal, and state criminal penalties. CUtv CableMost Housing Services–operated residence halls receive cable service from Columbia University Cable Television (CUtv), which is operated by Columbia University Information Technology (CUIT). 47 Claremont and the Brownstones residents receive cable service from Time Warner Cable. CUtv service may be subscribed to at a monthly charge of $27.95 billed on the AT&T ACUS Service account in individual rooms in 600 W. 113th St., Broadway, Carman, East Campus two-room apartments, Furnald, John Jay, McBain, River, Ruggles, Schapiro, Watt, Wien, and Woodbridge. CUtv service may also be subscribed to in the common areas only in East Campus and Hogan. If CUIT must send a technician to program your TV or VCR for cable service, you will be subject to an additional $25 charge. If a technician must replace a damaged coax cable in response to your repair request, you will be subject to a $100 charge. If cable service is canceled at any time, these fees must be paid in full before service is reinstated at the same location. To contact CUtv, call their Help Desk at 212-854-1919. Time Warner CableTime Warner Cable, the local for-profit cable operator, services 47 Claremont and the Brownstones. To obtain service from Time Warner, first call Time Warner at (212) 358-0900 to schedule an appointment. After scheduling your appointment, you must obtain approval from Housing Services by applying online. Approved applications will be faxed to Time Warner for confirmation. You will be notified of this process via email. All bills will be mailed to you directly by Time Warner. For more information, call the Customer Service Center at 212-854-2775. |
