Broadway

Broadway is one of the newest residence halls on campus. Although the building is used year-round, it has maintained its innovative style over the years. It opened in 2000 and is named for its location on the most famous street in the city. Broadway’s location on the corner of 114th Street also gives students easy access to campus buildings, the subway, and each of the restaurants and stores along Broadway. The street address for Broadway Hall is 2900 Broadway.

Layout

The building is 14 stories high, with 300 singles and 36 doubles. Broadway is a corridor-style setup with two separate men’s and women’s bathrooms on each floor. Every floor also has a lounge with cable television and a kitchen located conveniently across the hall. The 14th floor is a communal space with a bird’s eye view of NYC, and is equipped with 2 large lounges, a third open lounge, and a kitchen. The lobby of the building serves as another lounge area as well, with open seating available for studying on the ground floor. On the 3rd floor is a computer lab, and the 1st floor houses the Senior Class Dean’s Center. The 2nd floor contains four music practice rooms, a conference room, and a seminar classroom. In addition, the three elevators on the ground floor allow for quick travel between floors and to the laundry room in the basement.

RA Rooms: 319, 419, 519, 619, 819, 1019, 1219

Room Selection Notes

Mostly juniors and seniors live in Broadway, with sophomores and some juniors living in the doubles.

What Students Say

"Broadway is the most convenient hall to live in. It's right on Broadway, it's clean, it’s located near Lerner Hall, it has the fastest elevators in all of the halls at Columbia, and it's well air-conditioned. It also has a great lobby with a lot of space to study."

If you live on the 13th floor you have both an amazing view of the city and the ability to get wireless access in your room coming from the sky lounge. The doubles at the ends of the halls look out over the city and easily boast the best views to wake up to in all of campus.”

“Broadway may be the most underrated hall on campus. The rooms aren't huge, but there are great views, quiet floors, fast elevators, and nice kitchens that you don't have to clean yourself.”
