Ruggles
Ruggles was converted to a residence hall from a New York apartment building in 1964. Each of the suites in Ruggles were recently renovated (the North side in 2007 and the South side in 2008), which included updates to the bathrooms and kitchens to maximize space and make the suites more functional. In addition, new
flooring was installed to freshen up the spaces and make them more
allergen-free. Ruggles' location near Amsterdam Avenue gives students quick access to John Jay Dining Hall and all of the restaurants and shops along Amsterdam. This eight-story, suite-style building is one of the only residence halls on campus that many sophomores are able to live within a suite. The street address for Ruggles Hall is 508 W. 114th Street. LayoutFour suites exist on each of the 8 floors - two of these suites house four people in four large singles, and two suites house eight people in three doubles and two singles. Each suite contains a private bathroom and a kitchen with a refrigerator, sink, and stove, but has no common area. RA Rooms: 217, 420, 517, 620, 820 Room Selection NotesThe large rooms that compile half of the building are split between juniors and seniors, with sophomores filling up the remainder of Ruggles. What Students Say“Ruggles has lots of charm. The high ceilings and trim along the walls give you a unique living environment unlike the many cookie-cutter college dorms you come to expect. The suites with recently renovated kitchens are amazing.”
“As a sophomore, Ruggles was a great choice. I can live with many of my friends in a suite, and we have our own kitchen and bathroom.”
"[Ruggles has] great proximity to campus and the rooms have beautiful high ceilings.”
