The Living Learning Center

The Living Learning Center (LLC) is comprised of Hartley and Wallach halls, and is the only all-class integrated residence hall at Columbia University. This integrated living model fosters opportunities for all of the Living Learning Center students to build collaborative mentoring relationships by learning from each other's experience and knowledge. These interactions help to ease first-year student concerns, as well as provide guidance regarding on-campus involvement, and course and room selection.

Students who reside in the Living Learning Center agree to attend weekly suite/floor study breaks, create one program per semester with their suitemates, as well as participate in one larger building-wide program per month. Programming is further enhanced with a faculty and dean in residences who host faculty and alumni forums or dinners. Additionally, the Living Learning Center strives to create and maintain an environment free of bias and hate where every person feels comfortable, welcomed, and valued for their unique individuality.

You may visit the Living Learning Center website for more information about the application process. Questions about the LLC should be directed to Scott Helfrich, 111 Wallach Hall, (212) 854-7897, sh2409@columbia.edu
