Special Interest Communities

The Special Interest Communities (SIC) Program promotes the cultural, intellectual, and social development of students living in the undergraduate residence halls by allowing students with common interests to live together in a supportive environment within the residential community and serve as a significant educational resource for that area. It also serves to create opportunities for students in residence to impact the residential community through interaction with faculty and administrators of the Columbia community, as well as with leaders from outside the community--in New York City and beyond.

SIC aim to educate the campus on their special interest and provide a welcoming environment in which to discuss issues. Rather than the exploration on racial consciousness and identity, the purpose of the SIC is to promote a unified campus by exploring the diversity within each community. Therefore, all members of the College community are invited to participate in SIC goals. Individuals as well as group applications will be considered.

You may visit the Special Interest Communities Program  website for more information about the application process. Questions about SIC should be directed to Darleny Cepin, 113 Wallach, (212) 854-7126, dec23@columbia.edu.

Submit your 2006-2007 SIC roster.
