Columbia University Housing

Eligibility

We offer housing for non-Columbia students working as interns in the metropolitan area for the summer. Current college or university students who are at least 18 years of age, with a valid ID for the Spring 2009 term and an acceptance letter for an internship or summer program in New York City are qualified. We do not, however, offer housing to married couples, unless each person wishes to pay for a room, and we do not offer accommodations for children either. Please note that you are guaranteed a room for the summer upon submission of your application.

* Charges are based on a Sunday arrival and Saturday departure, regardless of when you arrive or depart. Charges will not be prorated for late arrivals or early departures. Individual day rates are not available. Please see the Application Information below for more information on this process.

** Due to the 2008-2009 academic year calendar, we will not be able to offer any early arrivals before May 31. NO EXCEPTIONS.

 

Buildings Available

Summer Interns will be staying in 4-6 person suites in East Campus Residence Hall. Please note: Only Summer Interns from universities other than Columbia may stay in this building. You may not stay in any other building, and current Columbia students may not stay in East Campus.

Application Information

The Summer Intern Housing Application is now available. You are guaranteed a room for the summer upon submission of your application with payment.

Charges are based on a Sunday arrival and Saturday departure, regardless of when you arrive or depart. Charges will not be prorated for late arrivals or early departures. Individual day rates are not available.

Check-In dates: May 31; June 7; June 14; June 28; July 5; July 12

Check-Out dates: June 27; July 4; July 11; July 18; July 25; August 1; August 8

Due to difficulties last summer with credit limits, please advise your credit card company that a payment of a large amount will be charged to your account before you try to register.

If you require accommodations due to a disability, please note your need on your application. In addition, we may ask you to fill out the Disability Housing Accommodations Request Form and submit supporting documentation. We will make every effort to meet your needs, but please note that this is only a request and not guaranteed.

Interns will receive a full gym membership to the Dodge Physical Fitness Center for the entire period of your stay.

Please remember that we do not offer housing to married couples, unless each person wishes to pay for a room. We do not offer accommodations for children.

Cancellation Policy

If you wish to cancel your summer housing, please fill out the Intern Housing Cancellation form.

We will bill your credit card appropriately. Other non-refundable cancellation fees are as follows:

Cancellations made on or after June 15 will result in loss of entire payment.
