Submissions
Please note: We are now accepting submissions for the 2006-2007 year. Thank you for your interest.
The Columbia Human Rights Law Review (HRLR) welcomes the submission of unsolicited manuscripts of proposed articles and book reviews for possible publication. Accepted contributions generally deal directly with, or are otherwise relevant to, current ideas in international human rights and domestic civil rights law, including pieces from interdisciplinary perspectives.
We seek pieces with balanced legal analysis, or pieces that justify a position and advocate it cogently. We welcome works by scholars, practitioners, and others with knowledge of the human rights field. Submitted articles should range from 40 to 100 pages, including footnotes, and be double-spaced in a 12-point font with 1" margins. The journal uses Bluebook (standard law journal) citation format. Please ensure that your submission meets the following conditions:
All articles should be submitted in electronic format, if possible, either by email to HRLRsubmissions@law.columbia.edu (preferred method) or on a 3.5", labeled, PC-formatted disk to the mailing address below;
Articles should have been created in Microsoft Word 6.0 or a later version;
All citations should be in strict conformity with the Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (16th edition); and
All submissions should include author resume and contact information - address, phone number, fax and email address.
Please note that in addition to sending an electronic version of your submission, you are welcome but by no means required to send a paper copy to our mailing address as well. Our mailing address is:
