ANNUAL EVENTS
Class Reunion Day Held on the first Friday of May, this event welcomes back the 5-year reunion classes. The Alumni Association presents the Distinguished Alumni Award to an alumnus who has distinguished themselves through exemplary service to the College or to the profession.
Fall BBQ Held on a Sunday in early fall, this school-wide event is run with the Student Government Association. In addition to grilling burgers and hotdogs, the students participate in an interclass softball tournament with multi-colored baseball hats sported by each team, generously donated by past president Lois Jackson '77, Peds '80. The winning team is awarded a trophy and bragging rights. This is a family-friendly event which all are welcome to attend!
GNY Alumni Reception Held on the Wednesday evening of the Greater New York Dental Meeting, this is CDM's biggest alumni/faculty/student event. Alumni have a chance to meet old friends, see former faculty and network with colleagues. Awards are presented, honoring new and senior faculty.
Mentor Reception This reception is held each spring on the Columbia Morningside Campus in the Tauber Room of Butler Library (named after the father of Robert Tauber '62). The event enables current students to interact with alumni in an informal setting to talk about possible career paths and learn first-hand about life after dental school. All interested alumni are welcome to attend.
Spring Networking Event This inaugural event was held at Sotheby's in April 2010. It is designed for alumni interested in buying or selling a practice, hiring an associate, building a referral base, to meet fellow alumni who practice in the area.
White Coat Ceremony Held in August during Orientation week, the White Coat Ceremony officially welcomes the first-year students into the dental profession. The Alumni Association brings greetings at the event and gives a welcome gift to each student.
