Division of Orthodontics

Vision Statement

The Division of Orthodontics strives to provide excellence in education and patient care, as well as to provide an environment that encourages scholarly activity and research which will improve the health and well-being of the public. Part of that vision is that all its graduates will become Board certified and remain life long learners through attendance at Continuing education courses and through the recertification process.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Division of Orthodontics is to educate students to become proficient, critically thinking, practitioners of orthodontics who are capable of functioning in both clinical and academic environments.

Our Goals

Our goals are to:

1. Provide students with in-depth knowledge of the biological and mechanical principles related to orthodontic treatment.
2. Educate students to diagnose, treatment plan and deliver comprehensive orthodontic care at the highest level of quality and sophistication.
3. Develop student research skills and critical thinking skills and to introduce them to the requirements and principles of scientific writing.
4. Prepare students for the written and clinical portions of the American Board of Orthodontics certification and recertification examinations for the protection of the public.
5. Provide quality dental care to the public with a focus on our surrounding upper Manhattan community.
6. Conduct advanced research for the benefit of everyone.
