On a periodic basis, the Institute for Comparative Literature and Society is able to host visiting scholars who wish to use Columbia University’s research libraries and who want to participate in its activities. To accommodate the needs of these individuals and recognize their contribution to its intellectual life, the University has created the designation of “visiting scholar/scientist,” which is conferred according to the policies and procedures described in the Columbia University Faculty Handbook. This designation carries limited rights and privileges, and does not come with office space or stipend.

Scholars interested in becoming a visiting scholar at the ICLS should send a letter of inquiry to the Assistant Director, with a one page description of the research activities for which they are seeking access to Columbia University resources, as well as a CV.

PLEASE NOTE: ICLS does not grant Visiting Scholar status to graduate students.
