The Institute for Research in African-American Studies at Columbia University

Together, Columbia University and Barnard College have one of the strongest faculties in the United States. Our "core faculty" members are either appointed at the Institute, or have an appointment as a research fellow within the Institute. A number of faculty members work closely with the Institute, cross-listing their courses as part of the African-American Studies curriculum and participating in the events and programs sponsored by the Institute; they are the Institute's "affiliated faculty".
